D-Rex Interactive Dinosaur

Your own prehistoric pal! Dare pet his head? More bite than roar!Ultra-fierce and unbelievably fun, the D-REX Interactive Dinosaur is a cool, prehistoric creature with a personality all his own. Designed to keep kids eight and up entertained for days, this robotic D-REX moves, roars, and responds to your child’s voice and touch. A bone-shaped controller even lets you “train” him as a guard dinosaur or an attack pet.

With a fierce facial expression and motorized robotic legs that actually enable D-Rex to walk, this isn’t simply a stuffed dinosaur toy that sits still on a bed or couch. The D-Rex Interactive Dinosaur is state of the art, advanced fun. In fact, some critics and initial users have said that the D-Rex is actually the “ultimate pet” – and they aren’t too far from the truth! However, different from many electronic “pets”, the D-Rex is a bit more fearsome looking and may be a little too scary for very young children. The recommended age for the D-Rex is actually between 6 and 15 years of age.

As opposed to a soft and furry outer shell, D-Rex actually has skin that closely resembles a lizard’s skin. It’s rough, rubbery and scaly to the touch. Little details like these are also what make the D-Rex Interactive Dinosaur price a second thought. The creators and developers spent a considerable amount of time to make sure that they got everything just right. They wanted to create a totally different electronic toy experience than the ones that were already available, such as when you purchase an electronic cat, or dog, or even other interactive dinosaurs on the market.

Get Ready for Realistic, Imaginative Fun
Right out of the box, this scaly pet D-REX feels more authentic than most other dinosaur toys on the market. His rubbery, reptilian skin is loosely stretched to accommodate movement, and he has a slightly strange texture that is soft to the touch. While his oversized feet and a fun spiked collar balance his menacing teeth and his darting yellow eyes, he is still a little scary looking. Don’t worry–you’ll soon discover that he has a sense of humor and a soft spot for anyone willing to scratch the back of his head.

Before you start getting to know D-REX personally, you’ll need to use a Phillips screwdriver to insert five “C” batteries in his tail and two “AAA” batteries in the bone-shaped controller. Once he’s powered up, D-REX is ready to start showing off and responding to his surroundings. He’ll roar, turn his head, and blink his eyes.

Cool Robotics Technology for Interactive Play
When you pet D-REX on the head, touch sensors let him respond with an appreciative roar. If he seems hungry, you can stick something in his mouth and he’ll chomp away on it. And the bone-shaped controller lets you prompt five different types of behavior. Press “attack,” and he’ll launch forward while roaring. Press “prank,” and he’ll fart, burp, or roar. In seek mode, he uses a noise sensor to locate you and walk towards you. Due to the room’s background noise, we found that he had some difficulty with this task. But it was funny (and kind of cute) when he bumped into walls and backed away in surprise.

Perhaps our favorite mode was “guard.” In this mode, you can set D-REX up in front of your bedroom door or your favorite toys and he will scan the room, letting out a big roar if he detects the motion of “intruders.” There’s even a question mode that lets you replace your out-dated magic eight ball with dinosaur wisdom. Each time you press this button, D-REX will answer a question by nodding “Yes” or shaking his head “No.”

D-REX Interactive Dinosaur 2009 is programmed to respond as a pet with an independent mind. This means that, despite his five-button remote, he won’t walk where ever you want him to. Kids who expect to “drive” him around the room like a remote control car may be disappointed, but we actually enjoyed this fact a lot, since it made him more realistic. And we expect that kids who are fascinated by either dinosaurs or robotics will agree with us on this. As an added bonus, D’REX offers a battery-saving sleep mode, which parents are sure to appreciate.

D-Rex Interactive Dinosaur 2009

No longer are dinosaurs only found in museums or the movies – these days there is a very good chance that you’ll find one in your very own home! Interactive Dinosaur toys are hot! They’re also a lot of fun and they give children the chance to let their imaginations run wild! Considering how many museums have dinosaur fossils as the center piece to their collections, and how many dinosaur cartoons, movies and books there are about dinosaurs, it was only a matter of time before realistic dinosaur toys would be created and available for children everywhere to play with. The D-Rex Interactive Dinosaur 2009  is an amazing piece of technology, but more than that – it’s an incredibly advanced toy that will give your child many hours of fun and entertainment.

Most kids go through a phase where they are completely intrigued by dinosaurs in some shape or form. Maybe this fascination stems from the fact that dinosaurs look so out of this world. In my time, it might have been building dinosaur models. Today, kids can choose to have a walking, talking (roaring, to be precise) dinopet.

More than just a title, the D-Rex Interactive Dinosaur 2009 is truly interactive. With the built-in ability to respond to both touch and voice signals, this dinosaur will take your child’s dinosaur playtime adventures to a whole other level! It is powered by a set of 4 size “C” batters that are in fact included when you purchase the toy, and then there is an additional 2 “AA” batteries that are needed which are not included. Of course, you’ll want to have another set of batteries as backup.

Obviously there are other electronic toys, or pets out there, but none of them have the attitude or the fierce demeanor of the D-Rex. Another characteristic that none of them have is the proper balance of a scowling growl with a protective nature that warns intruders away simply by its presence. D-Rex isn’t the normal, cuddly toy dinosaur that they make children’s movies about. In fact, D-Rex actually is probably not suitable for very young kids and is recommended for children of six to fifteen years of age. Of course, that doesn’t mean that adults don’t enjoy D-Rex’s company just as much as any child does. Although they may not admit it, some parents come to care for the little dinosaur just like they would a cat, or dog. There is just something about him that makes him special, and that’s part of why the D-Rex Interactive Dinosaur price is so worthwhile.

You will have plenty of fun with this toy. You can set him in various modes. For instance, he can guard your slice of Christmas cake or mince pie from any unwanted attention. Set him in guard mode and place him next to the plate. If anyone tries to take a sneaky bite, he will roar. This will work with real pets and will raise a few chuckles from the rest of the family.

Dinosaur lovers of all ages are in luck! The D-Rex 2.0 Interactive Dinosaur is a friend, guardian, and prankster all rolled into one toy. Designed for kids eight years and older, this dinosaur –brought to life with “biomorphic robotics”– features over 100 sounds and movements. Using a bone-shaped remote,D-Rex responds to an “attack” command by roaring and stalking a victim, and he wags his tail when kids pet the back of his head. D-Rex’s level of interaction increases with the ability to memorize and perform a sequence of up to 30 actions.

Fearsome Predator or Lovable Pet?
Though he wears a collar and stands only 14 inches tall, this D-Rex is still a “fearsome” predator. Kids will be enthralled by his realistic skin, and lifelike movements, which are possible thanks to biomorphic robotics. His fiery orange eyes scan the room, and his neck and tail “muscles” ripple with movement. D-Rex has a personality all his own with over 100 sounds and movements, as well as sensors that respond to light, sound, and touch.

Become His Master
Using the bone-shaped remote control, kids can program D-Rex to perform a number of actions from up to 25 feet away. Pressing “attack” mode makes D-Rex stand alert, and pressing it a second time sends him on a roaring rampage. In “guard” mode, D-Rex stiffens and scans the room, moving his head from side to side. At the first sound of an intruder, D-Rex will roar to alert you.

While D-Rex is an effective guardian, like any pet he has needs of his own. If D-Rex’s tail stops wagging, he may want attention. Pet his head and quickly get his tail wagging. Also, to keep his hunger at bay, kids can feed him. His jaws will move up and down, stopping only after he has had his fill.

Lifelike Interaction
As kids learn to tame D-Rex and keep him happy, they can relate to him much like a real-live pet. In “seek” mode, D-Rex comes when you whistle, and in “prank” mode, he repeats funny sounds. Best of all, an advanced training feature allows kids to teach him a specific sequence of actions that he will then repeat on command.

As a power-saving feature, D-Rex takes a “Dino-nap” when not being used. Parents will want to assist with removing the toy’s packaging and installing two “AAA” batteries (not included) in the bone remote control.
